Happy New Year 2013! I hope you had enjoyed your holidays with the yummy delights.
Cakes, chocolates, turkey, ham, wine, chips... I had most of these foods during the holidays.
I enjoyed myself truly but I must say, I'm feeling guilty right now eating all these acidic foods. I'm feeling out of shape now and feeling tired more frequently...

THE INCREASED RISKS THAT PCOS CAN BRING

Women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome have a greater chance of developing several serious disorders, including Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease. Studies found that:

  • Before the age of 40, more than 50% of women with PCOS will have Type 2 Diabetes or Pre-Diabetes. The latter is a reversible form of impaired glucose tolerance, which, if neglected, can lead to Type 2 Diabetes.
  • Women with PCOS have a four to seven times higher risk of heart attack than women of the same age without PCOS.
  • Women with PCOS are at greater risk of having heart-damaging high blood pressure.
  • Women with PCOS have high levels of LDL "bad" cholesterol and low levels of HDL "good" cholesterol, which can lead to a stroke.

Fortunately, the symptoms of PCOS can be improved and even reversed via a nutritious diet and regular exercise to lose or better control weight, which, in turn, helps to restore the hormonal imbalance caused by PCOS.
